If I Could Tell My 19-year-old Self a Thing or Two...

Look at her! Look at HIM! We were just babies! It's been 11 years since that day and I don't think I even recognize those people.

However, I have a few things I would like to say to that 19 year old girl in that photo.

Dear Slimmer-no-wrinkles Little Girl,

It's me, fatter-many-wrinkles-gray-hair-older You! How are you? Fine, you say? I beg to differ.

Do you see how lovingly you are gazing into that young man's eyes? Don't stop. Don't ever stop. That young man will hold you as you sob at the loss of all of your babies. He will try to help you as you deal with guilt from your past without ever asking what really happened. He will turn inside out as he counts with you and watches your 2 children come into this world. He will help your Baby Girl as she realizes Jesus is in hear heart. Those eyes you are looking into...they will look upon you as Christ looks upon His Church even when you are the awful wife that you are sometimes. (Trust me...you can be a BEAR!) He will hold your hand as you both soar up on the mountain tops. And he will be there in the deepest valleys that you will face. Sometimes you both may be on opposite sides of that valley, but he will be there none-the-less.

Cherish every single moment you have with him. Don't waste a moment of those 11 years! You can't get a moment back. Realize exactly what you have in that young man NOW so you don't waste any moments taking him for granted. Because guess what, Sista? There are other sistas out there who wish they could have what you have. And all the while, you don't even see it.

So wake up, girl, from fantasy land! You have a long hard road ahead of you, but there is truly no one else that you would want to (or even could) walk it with. Hold him tight. That young man loves you!

Wishing I had your hips,
Old Me

I sure hope she listened. Because truth is...she soooooo doesn't deserve him.

She probably didn't. 19-year-olds rarely do.

Happy Anniversary, you 2 crazy kids!

ps--here's that horrible quality video that I posted last year. Remember...it was the video they played at my wedding and I got it transferred to DVD but couldn't get the DVD to work right so I just videoed the screen. I go skillz!

I just re-watched it and re-cried.

Oh, my...did you see my children in the faces of those 2 little kids? WOW!

Thanks for putting up with me Dave.

I love you.

Seriously.

For True.

From my 30-year-old self.

You two know how much I love you and how blessed I am to have seen your love bloom and mature over the last 11 years. As I said, at your reception, 11 years ago...you two taught me about what true love is. I see it in your eyes when you look at each other. You have always been, and will continue to be, an inspiration to me. I love you both more than I could ever express! Happy Anniversary!
