Proud

This time, it's not about Baby Boy.

This time, it's not about Baby Girl.

This time, it's about Hubs.

When we first got married and lived in Russellville, Hubs had a job at Cross Auto Supply. He loved his job. He drove a little truck around delivering parts. As happy as a little lark.

We moved to LR and he worked for Alltel. It made a bunch more money, but he was no where near as happy.

After some time off to stay home with the kiddos, he went to work for the Post Office and then UPS. BUNCH more money, but miserable.

And then it happened. He stumbled across a Cross Auto Supply in Conway. Same owner!

And they were hiring for his old job. The job that made him so happy.

So he has worked there almost 3 years now just as happy as can be. I mean, he LOVES it there and let me tell you...a husband who loves his job is worth its weight in gold!

Well about this time last year he was approached about a promotion. A big one. A "praise the Lord and thank you Jesus" one!

Some situations changed and it didn't happen.

Until a week before we went on vacation. David was told he would have it shortly after he returned from vacation. What? For real? We thought this opportunity had passed.

But it hadn't and it was going to be his.

So, last week he got his cell phone in (boys and their toys), he was given money to go buy new clothes and given the keys to his company vehicle (a 2008 Santa Fe). He started Monday and God is already blessing him in this new position! I'm telling you...he was made for this job.

Now, those of you who know him from years ago might not think so knowing how shy he used to be. But trust me, he is in his element.

He's an outside sales rep for Cross Auto Supply...better known as NAPA Auto Parts.

He's in a job he loves with perks (and salary) beyond what we could ever "ask or imagine" and we are so thankful to God for ordering our steps and to Larry for remembering the baby faced young man who worked for him years ago and to Aaron for seeing his potential.

I'm so proud of my little Hubs. He's doing what is right for him and this family and enjoying all the while. He's a proud as a little peacock every day when he walks in the door and I'm so very happy for him.

Not to mention my Baby Girl tells me every day "Daddy has a sweet ride."

See, perks.

Outside Comfort Zones

Comfort zones.

We love them.

Too much sometimes.

That's why when our women's leaders at church came up with this idea and asked for me to help, I jumped on board 100%!

The idea was to create a retreat that would force us outside of our comfort zones. This particular one was designed where we would find 1 or 2 women in the church that we wouldn't normally buddy up with. Someone we don't know very well, but would love to. God has given us this body...this family and He sees each of us that are His as His princesses. He sees the immeasurable value that is in each of us. The preciousness that He designed in each of us. But sometimes we are too caught up in 'cliques' or 'what's in it for us' that we don't get to see all of that value.

So this weekend, we took the time to find that special value in each other that we might not have seen other wise. And let me say, I was truly blessed as were many others. We could always say we loved each other. Now, we know why.

Here are just a few pictures of this night.

We had a few back out at the last minute and some with previous plans, but we were all so excited just to get to be ALL together. Our name badges said "I'm with...." so everyone would know who our new 'friend' was.

We started the night with the human knot. This is a GREAT lesson in communication and learning when to speak up and when to not. This group got completely untangled.

This group...no so much.

This is just a shout out to S and her maaaad cake decorating skills that she has been learning. Go girl!

Our 'ticket' in the door was that we had to call that 1 or 2 that we had chosen and personally invite them as our 'date'. Most even rode together to the retreat which gave an extra time of getting to know you. At one point during the evening we split off and found quiet corners of the place to just be intimate with each other. Everyone had a packet of questions to help the conversation out. It was very sweet fellowship.

T and Mrs. N. Isn't this place beautiful?

Mrs J and D.

After many more relational activities and lessons on the importance of getting to know and cherish all of the women that God has placed in our lives, I think we all learned one thing.

GOD LOVES US SO MUCH to have given us all each other! I mean, stepping outside of comfort zones can bring such a blessing. God has surrounded us with all of these great women because He loves us!

I challenge you...reach out to someone you wouldn't normally reach out to. It just might bless your socks off!

Family Night Edition #32

Can you guess what last Thursday night's Family Night was?

Yes, it was Mary Poppins night!

My kids love them some Mary Poppins.

Here we have Mary/Jane. Note her cute white gloves and umbrella hooked around her wrist and cute 'carpet bag' on her shoulder.

Here is Bert/Michael with his Mimi and Spiderman umbrella.

We began our evening at #17 Cherry Tree Lane by eating Mr. Banks' gold tuppins (chicken nuggets), tea sandwiches (PB&J), umbrella squares (cheese cubes with umbrellas in them), and what else?

Spoon-fulls of sugar (icing)

This will probably rank as their fav FN just because they wound up having so much sugar by the end of the night.

Then, Mary Poppins got out her tape measure and measured everyone in the house. Of course, MP was "practically perfect in every way". Bert was "stubborn and suspicious". (Those 2 are directly from the movie in case you don't know and if you don't know go rent it and sing in your head 'Feed the Birds'.) Brianna's measuring cam out as "a weird driver". Cracked me up! I guess MP is always honest in her opinions.

From there we did a little penguin bowling...

And Olivia helped with Mrs. Brill's Baking Day when the kids used their easy bake oven (only it cooks with ice) to make 2 cakes.

Then we headed to Uncle Albert's Tea Party. Now, while we couldn't have our tea on the ceiling, we COULD 'Love to Laugh...Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha!' to some jokes I found for kids. Isn't MP practically perfect in every way as she serves her guests?

It was time for Mr. Banks' Kite Making. Aren't their kites lovely? Now 'Let's go fly a kite...up to the highest height'...except these won't fly really.

We headed into the garage for Bert's Chalk Drawings with our 3-D chalk.

We ended the evening with some "Raspberry Ice" (sherbet) and of course, the rest of the movie that had been playing the whole time.

Thanks to Katy, Mom, Brianna and Olivia for joining us on this supercalefradecicdegexpialidoious night!

They Stole My Breath all in the Same Day

First, there was this:

He just kept standing in front of me with his sleepy eyes (see the red) with his blankeys in hand. He didn't wine. He didn't talk. He just stood.

So, being the gentle and loving mother that I am...I asked him to stay right there while I grabbed my camera.

He stole my breath.

I held him after I snapped my pic and he took a cat nap.

Later that night we were getting ready for a wedding and Baby Girl's hair was in DESPERATE NEED of some flat ironing. Well, Hubs was talking to me and I got distracted and left it curled under just a hair too long. And her hair did something mine never does.

It curled.

So, we commenced to doing it all over. Once all was said and done, she stole my breath.

Any Guesses?

So, Belle drew this picture for us the other day of all of the fruit she could think of. Some of them made me laugh. As I was listening to Hubs guess what they were and I realized I had to help him out (because she had already told me what they were) I thought I would put it on here to ya'll.

Any quesses?

Fun With Friends

It's so hard to think that Baby Girl has friends that live so close by that they can come over whenever.

I had that all my life no matter where we lived, but all of her friends were in another town away due to where the Lord has placed us in a church body.

Not now.

Her 2 best friends live just one street over.

So Saturday after nap time when the kids were getting ready to go out back and play in the Slip 'n' Slide, I called one of their mommas to see if they could come and play.

And play they did!

Here are just a few shots of the visit.

Don't they look like they are solving the worlds problems?

These are definitely 3 peas in a pod right here!

Enjoying an refreshing afternoon treat!

They even brought some bubbles to play with, but only Baby Boy took the time to play with them. You can see my write up on those over here.

Don't you just love friends?

My Women

Recently my mom and my grandmother celebrated their 45th and 65th birthdays (respectively). We celebrated with them and my in-laws and they wanted me to take their picture together.

This one says it all!

Those of you who know them, know it's the truth too!

Happy Birthday to you both! I love you.

Wisconsin Day 4--Pizza, Play and Pictures

This morning, we checked out of our wonderful hotel and headed out for a great day of fun.

We met the Lovells at Berre's Brothers Coffee Roasters which is based right there in Watertown, WI. (Mark your calendars. They will be on the Food Network's "Unwrapped" on July 27th.) Hubs was in coffee heaven! He has had coffee from there before because the Lovells send it to him for his birthday and such and spoil the pants off of him. But this time, HE got to inhale every ounce of the place for himself as well as purchase enough to last him until either Christmas or his birthday.

Whichever one he can con them out of.

Then, if the coffee wasn't enough, he got to go to Penzy's spices. This was right up his alley too. But what made it even better for me? I got to taste whatever I wanted! Woo Hoo!

But we won't talk about the Vanilla Sugar Debacle '09 that I believe Becky and Baby Boy were involved in. I was waiting for the cops to arrive.

Apparently the Milwaukee area is a mecca o'production that I was completely unaware of.

From there we stopped by Miller Park where Becky just went to see Manny Ramirez thanks to her Hubs.

And then, oh then, we went here...Stonefire Pizza Company!

Think Chucky Cheese and throw in some cleanliness, better food, themed rooms, better games, amusement rides and throw out the stinking rat and you have this place!

Oh, and CHEAP! For the 4 of us to eat and play (3 $20 game cards) was $49. AND, after you play you can come back and eat. Nice! They even offer sleep over parties! Where was this place when I was a kid?

Just click around on some of those links and you'll see that I ain't lying!

Watching Cars while we ate

The water room

Belle did a wonderful job of drawing her own face pictures

Then, there was Luke

Let's bowl!

After we tuckered out the gang we headed back to Watertown for an updated photo shoot with the Lovells and the kiddos. The last photo that they have up was when I was pregnant with Luke and they got their picture made with Belle. She was 3. It was time for some updates.

Here is one of them. You can go here and here to see more from the park.

From there we headed to the Wood homestead while Daddy got some rest. When he woke up and we got ready to leave, the waterworks began.

We all love them both so very much but it just seemed tougher to leave this time than before. I don't know why, but it just was. I held the tear back until Belle began wailing that she wanted her Aunt Becky. And she wailed this for a ways down the road. It means a lot to me that even though we are all so far away from each other, our families are forever intertwined. We love you and can't wait to see you cheeseheads again soon.

September, I hope.

Wisconsin Day 3--Family Night #31

Day 3 broke to the smell of cheese!

Real Wisconsin made-right-there-in-their-dairy cheese.

I'm sure it wasn't happy cheese, though, because happy cheese only comes from happy cows which live in California.

But it was YUMMY cheese!

We spent the morning at Kramer's Cheese just up the road from Becky's house. And we tasted some kind of yummy there! I mean, I would be a cow (no pun intended) if I had access to everything that guy had there. So we loaded up a box choc full o' cheeses and headed back to the hotel for some waterpark fun with Becky while we waited for Matt to get off work.

Then, of course, we had to bring Aunt Becky back for a night at the water park.

Then, the planning came into play for Family Night #31.

See, Becky is always so very sad because she doesn't get to be a big part of my kids daily lives. So, we came up with an idea to take Family Night to her. I planned it all here and loaded it up to take there. We invited the Wood family and had a great time!

Welcome to Clue Night!

Where Mr. Boddy lay.

The lead pipe

Sir Luke Mustard

David's question mark treats

Here was the whole gang. We have (from LtoR) Bekah and Brody Plum, Camie and Cooper Plum, Rebekah and Belle Scarlett, Matt and Luke Mustard, Mr. David Green and Mrs Billie White.

My Mother-in-Law made travel packets for the kids and inside one of it was a scrapbook (aka piece of cardstock) so that they could keep up with what they did on their trip. Belle only wanted to make sure and record one thing.

Family Night.

You will notice there is a color represented for every one. You can even see the 'caution' outline of Mr. Boddy. She was rather distraught that Hubs (Mr. Green) and myself (Mrs. White) did not have a partner, but she kept saying that she thought that Mr. Green had the hots for Mrs. White. True statement if I ever heard one. But notice in this picture who she decided to team Mr. Green up with? Find the other green shirt? It's Noah...aka Fat Cat.

I believe you have moved up in the world Mr. Green.

The last scene of the night...

Wisconsin Day 2--Patriotism

*Warning...LONG post with lots of pictures*

By the end of day 2 I felt more patriotic than I have in my entire life.

Even thru the years of the Gulf War when I literally sang "God Bless the USA" at the end of every 8th Grade Glee Club performance and most of the audience would cry.

That's deep.

I know.

We met Becky at her group home to follow the bus of her individuals to the parade. Now, listen. You haven't been to a parade like this. 2 days prior to this parade, the entire route is lined up 2-3 chairs/blankets/chains (to protect your posessions) deep to save your spot for this parade.

They take their color guard and polka music VERY seriously people.

So we get set up and the parade starts. I kid you not...EVERY SINGLE TIME a color guard, military or military family came by the entire parade route would be on their feet clapping and shouting and cheering and thanking them for what they have done. It was wonderful. I kept looking at David and saying, "MAN...everyone should get to experience this."

Don't worry...there were still plenty of firetrucks and tractors and monster trucks to go around.

After all the parade was 2.5 hours.

This was the first time we got to meet up with the Wood bunch. I've known Camilla (I crack up typing that) for years but this was my first chance to mee Bekah and their kids. And we now have a deep history together (thanks to our boys) that can never be broken.

And we'll just leave it at that.

Meet my boy Brody

Precious Cooper!

Waiting for the parade to start

David wanted me to take a pic of this for his work friends. Isn't it kinda cool?

This is completely for my Dad. There were MANY floats with folks in their leiderhosen playing "Roll Out the Barrell".

There was even an AR flag! Oh, and a camel...yes a camel. Elvis was there, but also the Red Hat ladies.

Only in 'Misconsin'.

Can you figure out my son's favorite part of the parade was?

All of our thoughts by the end of the parade

I LOVED the Woods' shirts!

All of the kiddos

Lukey loved him some Coops!

After the parade we headed back for a nap then it was up again and headed to the town carnival. Belle gets very gutsy and will do ANYTHING that Aunt Becky can/will do. So she was doing things as seen below.

They rode lots of other things, but this one was my favorite. This was the pirate ship. YOu can see, he was fine with the pirate ship at first. But then, not so much.

The whole 'family' as we got ready to watch the fireworks show. They even provided 3-D glasses and they were so cool!
